Introducing, the Detective!
The third and final puppet is finally complete. He is the “misinformed” portion of the trio, and has no problem hounding the poor Butler about crimes he did or did not commit. Like the Butler and Old Man his finishing touches will include skin-toned clay to make adjustable eyelids.
Filming is in its last week of production, and we’re hoping to begin all of our colour correction and After Effects work next week! We’ll be posting updates during that time on what we’re doing, problems we encounter, and explanations on masking out puppet rigs and more!

You’ve met some of the characters, now meet their voices! We held auditions for the voices of the narrator, the detective, and the mean old boss. Our intrepid audio director Cam talks a little bit about the process.

Introducing, the Old Man!
The second puppet is finally complete. He is the “mad” portion of the trio, speaking only in angry grumbles and unintelligible rumbles. Like the Butler his finish touches will include skin-toned clay to make adjustable eyelids. To see the entire process of how he came to be, check out our videos on “Building Character” - and the many more to come!
Next up - the Detective!

Introducing, the Butler!
After what can only be described as hours upon hours of labour, our first puppet is finally complete. He is the “meek” portion of the trio, and will soon be followed by the “mad” old man and the “misinformed” detective. The Butler’s finish touches will include skin-toned clay to make adjustable eyelids. To see the entire process of how he came to be, check out our videos on “Building Character” - and the many more to come!

From October 21st through 23rd, members of the Kool Koala team took a break from the pre-production process and headed to Montreal to the 3rd Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival. Once there Kool Koala got to check out some great stop motion films and even had a chance to catch up with some of the best minds in the stop motion business.
We’ll be posting some video highlights including interviews with Peter Saunders and Paul Howell, as well as the head organizer of the whole event - so stay tuned.
